Photo Essay: Demonstrations in Tel Aviv against rising inequality in Israeli society
Protesters shout social justice slogans against the government in 2012. Despite recent police violence, the march starting in Tel Aviv's Routhchild Boulevard passed without incident.
Oren Pasternack, 27, described by the media as part of the new leadership generation of the social justice movement. Stav Shaffir, 30 who was also present at the demonstration is now a high-ranking figure in the Israeli Labour party.
Activists assemble tents, the symbol of the 2011 social justice protests. Police had previously reacted with violence to the re-emergence of the movement. The demonstrators' signs read: "For us, the night is black”.
